Rebecca Timmis is an author-illustrator from the sunny Gold Coast. Her favourite things in the world are to write over-the-top, magical adventures and paint digital pictures with her graphics tablet. She also enjoys working in traditional media, with her favourite being watercolour pencils.
In 2019 Rebecca was invited to illustrate the picture book Super Nova, written by Krys Saclier and published by Ford St Publishing, which was shortlisted for an Aurealis Award. Her second illustrated work, Reggie Red, written by Josie Layton, is due for release in 2020 from Larrikin House. In 2019 Rebecca also received an Illustration Mentorship Award from the Australian Society of Authors.
Rebecca’s writing has been shortlisted for the Text Prize and the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest. In 2019 her short sci-fi story, Sticks and Stones, won second place in the Buzzword’s Magazine Children’s Short Story Competition, which is the largest competition for a children’s short story in Australia.
Rebecca has a background in design and web development and is currently employed part-time as a web designer. When she’s not coding websites and writing algorithms she’s busy chasing after her three boys, playing video games with her husband or riding her much-loved bike.
